Obituary of James McNeil

McNEIL, James Passed away peacefully after a short illness and with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, November 3rd at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 76. Much loved husband of 54 years of Rose, and loving father of James, Michael (Sandra), Mary (Mike) McKinnon and Patrick (Anna Havlin). Devoted "Granda" of Rileigh, Liam, Caelin and Patrick Laine. He leaves behind his sisters Marion (Tommy) Mulhern, Teresa (Jim) McAlpine, Mary (Danny) Graham, Elizabeth (John) McLellan and Anne Ferguson, sister in law Mary (the late Eugene) McGowan, nephews Anthony McCann and John McLellan, and many other nieces, nephews and friends. He will be forever missed by his best friends Bernard Cairns and John McDonald, and his early morning coffee friends at his local Tim Hortons. James was a founding member of the St. Catharines Celtic Supporters Club and was a retiree of Ontario Paper. The family extends sincere thanks to the nursing staff of Unit 3A of the SCGH. James' family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, on Thursday, November 5th from 6-8pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street on Friday, November 6th at 9:30am. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Thursday at 7pm. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow the service. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
