I was surprised and saddened to learn of Marilyn's passing when I returned home to St Catharines after several weeks out of the country. As a former doubles tennis partner of Marilyn's many years ago at White Oaks, I knew that she was passionate about the arts and at the time of our acquaintance she was just finishing up her book on the history of quilting in Ontario and I was a visual arts student at Brock. We spent much time on the road together as we played on a traveling team and a good deal of our conversation was surrounding the arts and the need for a much larger profile for local arts and artists. Since that time I have followed Marilyn's formidable dedication toward promoting the arts agenda through sponsorship, participation and lecturing, and have seen the transforming effects of her involvement. I am grateful that Marilyn achieved what she set out to do. She will be especially missed by the NAC community!

We were at the Brock alumni "Marilyn Walker" art centre tour last week. We saw her magnificent Quilt hanging in the rebuilt building. We were amazed and proud of her place in the hearts of all who were present. Condolences to all who knew her.

Marilyn had left a legacy of accomplishments that are inspirational. Her unique synergy was profound and engaging. Marilyn made the most of all her opportunities and epitomized the essence of creativity to its fullest. She mastered the art of textile design and contributed valuable skills and insights to the field with dedication and passion. Marilyn was authentic and genuine, probing and inquisitive. It was always a pleasure to be in her company. She was interested in others and generous with her time. Even the briefest encounter with Marilyn was a pleasure. She was always gracious, kind and empathetic. She was the kind of friend everyone needs. My sincere condolences to Norris and her family.
