Obituary of Msgr. Vladimir Zivcic

ZIVCIC, Rev. Msgr. Vladimir Peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Monday, September 21, 2015. Beloved son of the late Jure and Marica Zivcic. Predeceased by his brother Zvonko (2004) and nephew John (2013). Msgr. will be dearly missed by his brothers Jure (Marica), Ivan (Angela) and Zlatko (Nada), sister-in-law Vicky, and Baka Marija. Striko to Tom (Mira), Angie (Chris), Veronica (Marcello), Erica (Danny), Valerie, Michael, Melanie, Antonio, Perica, Katarina, and great nieces Lila, Vanessa and Neviana and great nephew John. He is loved by many extended family members. Msgr. Vladimir has many loyal friends and priestly fraternity in the Diocese of St. Catharines, where he served faithfully and unselfishly for over 35 years, most recently serving at St. Julia Roman Catholic Church. In addition to his parish appointments, Msgr. Vlad was appointed as Vicar General for the Diocese of St. Catharines in 2011. He was a Diocesan Consultor for many years, was Spiritual Director for the CWL, and served on various diocesan councils and committees. He received a Papal Honour and was named a Prelate of Honour (Monsignor) in June 1999. The family would like to thank the staff in the ICU and CCU ward at the St. Catharines General Hospital for their care and compassion during Msgr. courageous battle. A heartfelt thank you to dear friend/chaplain Debra McCaffery for her countless hours and comfort at his bedside. Visitation will take place at St. Julia Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, from 2-4p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Julia Roman Catholic Church, 251 Glenridge Ave. on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. The Rite of Committal to follow in the priests' plot at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil prayers will be offered in St. Julia Roman Catholic Church on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a gift to the St Catharines General Hospital ICU or Sv Juraj Mucenik in Gorinci, Croatia would be appreciated by the family.
