Obituary of Emmie Pennekamp

PENNEKAMP, Emmie (nee Van der Gulik) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Emmie at the Welland County General Hospital with her family by her side on Thursday July 30, 2015 in her 76th year. Predeceased by her husband Peter (2000), her parents Afra & Cornelius Van der Gulik and by her brothers John and Peter. Beloved Mother and best friend of Lisa and Robert (Chelsea). Proud Oma of Nicholas, Taylor and William. Special companion of Art Bakker. Emmie will be missed by her brother, Nick (Ruth) Van der Gulik and sisters, Margaret (Chris) Huibers, Afra Dekoe, Tina (Dan) D'Amelio, Lia (Frank) Huibers, Rena (George) Gray, Toni (Ken) Wolek and sister-in-law of Theresia Van Stralen. She will be missed by several nieces and nephews, especially Patty (Larry) Van Der Lee. Also left behind is her loving dog Tiesha. Emmie enjoyed her volunteer work for the Warehouse of Hope. She will be missed by several friends at 198 Scott St., especially Lynn, Joyce, Rose, Sue and Craig and the Coffee Club Girls. Thank you to Plymouth Cordage Retirement Home for her care since her recent move. Thanks to Dr. D. Goswami & the staff at Welland County General Hospital for their excellent care given. Our mother was a beautiful person inside and out. Emmie's family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Wednesday August 5, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home Wednesday at 3 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Star of the Sea Parish, 34 Elgin St., Port Dalhousie, on Thursday August 6, 2015 at 11 a.m., followed by the Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
