Obituary of Giuseppe D'Achille

D'ACHILLE, Giuseppe "Joe" Peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Giuseppe passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the St. Catharines General Hospital, at the age of 92. Giuseppe has been reunited with his wife of 72 years, Giuseppina (May, 2015). Loving Father of Minella (Pietro) D'Achille, Maria (Nicola) Ciccotosto, in Italy, Anne (Vito) Palumbo and Pina D'Achille. Cherished Nonno of Joseph (Susan), Angela (Rick), Peter Jr. (Leanne), Mirella, Patrizia, Pasquale (Irene), Mario (Tammy), Rosemarie (Johnny), Susanna (Brandon) and Anthony. Special Grandfather of 16 great-grandchildren and Uncle to many nieces and nephews in both Canada and Italy. Predeceased by a loving sister, and survived by a loving sister in Italy. Giuseppe was a WWII Combattendi Veteran, and an active Club Roma member since 1963. Joe immigrated, with the love of his life and his family, to Canada in 1960. Family get togethers with food and wine were the three most important aspects of Giuseppe's life. A special thank you to the Heatherwood staff and friends for their support. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Friday, July 24, from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Friday at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine St., on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow Mass, at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In memory of Giuseppe, donations may be given to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the NHS- St. Catharines Site.
