He was always a gentle, smiling man with whom I shared many hours in conversation and jokes about Italians, Hungarians and Europeans in general. I have only the fondest memories of my colleague, and will miss him at the Eastdale Retirees breakfasts. My condolences to the entire family. Ron

I was a student of Mr.Marino for history in 1996 and 97. Was one the greatest teachers I've ever known. He showed a great deal of interest I. His students even the ones of us that didn't deserve it. It's nearly 20 years and I remember him like I seen him yesterday. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing and wish to tell his family and loved ones that he did do great things in his life as he touched the lives of his students and became a true teacher of not just history for me but of wisdom to think past what's in front of your face.
Thank you deeply Mr. Marino

Mr. Marino was and always will be such a kind and gentle soul. He taught my sisters and I History (and coached my sister in soccer) at Eastdale Secondary School. We were shocked and saddened to learn of his sudden passing. I will never forget the kindness he showed for my family when my Dad passed away in 2004 by visiting the funeral home. He reminded us of our Dad in so many ways. His kind ways, gentle spirit and the love, pride and passion he had for his family and Italian heritage earned such respect from us. May the Marino family find strength and comfort with one another during this difficult time. Mr. Marino, you will be missed.

Hi Dora:
There are no words that can express what I feel right now. Mauro used to stop at our place on his bicycle. My husband Rick White grew up with Mauro and was totally devastated when he heard of his passing. he came over to our house a few years ago when Vic DiSantis was home from Florida. He was a true joy, and my husband thought the world of him and his accordion. He would talk about his visits to Italy and his love of sports and his culture.
Dora I am Anne-Marie White from Tops, and I am truly sorry for your loss and so is my husband Rick White. He asked me to check and see who his brother was and when I told him he said that is Mauro. Then I saw his picture and knew that it was him.
So sorry.

Mauro Marino was a warm, gentle, humble , very giving and remarkable man. We have some very fond memories of having a fun time with Mauro in his home town of Fossacesia, Italy, one, as recent as this past June when we shared a lunch of bacala and pizza on a beach overlooking the Adriatic. Mauro was a first cousin and first in every way. So many excellent qualities, too numerous to mention, but he was the epitome of a good Christian, caring and unselfish man. Mauro's father and my father were brothers but only came to know each other when Mauro's father came to Canada. lived with us for a few years and eventually brought his family to our country. Mauro came from good Italian stock who worked hard and took advantage of no one. No wonder he had so many excellent qualities. They were both inherited and taught. To Dora, Nico, Marco, and Lia and their families, our sincerest sympathies. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and no words could ever express our sadness in Mauro's passing. We have many fond memories of this remarkable, gentle and outstanding cousin, memories we will always cherish. .. May Mauro's soul and all of the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to the Marino family for this shocking loss. I have distant but very fond memories of childhood occasions when our families would meet at our homes or at Italian-themed events. Through my eyes as a child these were always joyous times. As I reflect back on these times I can only picture Mauro in my mind with a broad smile, laughing with my father and other close friends, sometimes singing, sometimes playing an instrument, sometimes quietly engaged, but always enthusiastic and ever-present; the quintessential, unwavering colleague, friend and family man. While I have had few occasions to interact with Mauro and his family over the years as these quickly pass, this news weighs heavily on me. These memories I have are inextricably linked to the precious few I have of my father. There is little that can be said to console- I can only offer a promise to cherish these memories alongside those of my father, in the deepest possible way. Gianluca.
