Obituary of John Carr

CARR, John Passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31 at the age of 87. Beloved Husband of Helen Carr for 60 years. Loving Father of Elaine Carr, John Carr (Julie), Alison Carr-Kohut (Ron) and Maureen Carr-Gabriele (Danny). Cherished Granddad of the late Johnny (1985), Shelbie (Ron), Kevin, Marianne (Phil), Stephen, Dani, Elise, Olivia, Pamela, Matt and Derek. Close family friend of Mary Margaret Parent. Great Granddad to Carter, Chase, Cohen and Emmett. Brother to Helen McGinty, Jim Carr and Eugene (Mary) Carr. Brother-in-law to Danny Haughian. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Dear friend of Derek and Sheila Rickard.John was a retired Superintendent from Port Weller Dry Docks. He was a member of the Scottish and the Celtic Clubs. John was an avid reader and was known for his insight and understanding of the world. The family extends a sincere thank you to the convalescent staff at Linhaven and to the Palliative Care Team at Hotel Dieu Shaver. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, June 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Wednesday at 3 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, 230 Lake St., St. Catharines on Thursday, June 4 at 12 p.m. Cremation to follow. If desired, memorial donations to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation would be appreciated.
