Obituary of Helen Hill

Helen Hill (nee McAleese) In her home, surrounded by her beloved nieces, Helen passed on Monday, May 25th, 2015. Helen was the loving wife of the late Bill Hill and was predeceased by her brothers Bill and Jack McAleese. She will be fondly remembered by her sister-in-laws, Betty and Shirley McAleese, nieces and nephews; Anita, Kathy, MaryAnne, Elizabeth, Billy, Jane, Patricia, John, Sheila and Ellen and by Bill’s children and grandson Bob, Linda and Patrick. “I want you to know” and “Let me tell you,” were two of Helen’s favourite sayings and lent to credence to the fact that Helen was an educator, both in her professional and personal life. She was a graduate of the Mack School of Nursing class of 54, “Sweet Violets.” She then continued her education at the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 1958. Helen’s career at the St. Catharines General Hospital span many years as Head Nurse on C6 pediatrics and as an educator at the Mack School of Nursing. Helen’s family would like to thank the circle of care that allowed her to stay in her home. Her nieces Patricia and Sheila, to Debbie for her friendship, her caring neighbours Mike and Cathy, to Amanda, and all those in the health care profession that made her final days comfortable. A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will take place on Saturday, May 30th at 9:30 am at the George Darte Funeral Chapel at 585 Carlton St, St. Catharines. Memorial donations to the World Wildlife Foundation or Out of the Cold would be appreciated by the family.
