Obituary of Eric Forstinger
FORSTINGER, Eric
Peacefully in St. Catharines on Apr. 21, 2015, in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Beverley for 64 years, dear father of Sandra Thompson and her husband David (deceased), Ken and his wife Kolleen, Ron and his wife Lori. Cherished grandfather of Jordan Thompson and his wife Adele, Christopher and his fiance Despina, Jennifer, Lisa, and Daniel. Great grandfather to Owyn and Carys Thompson. Eric is survived by his brother Walter and his wife Glady, and predeceased by parents Louis and Sabina, sister Mary Baumann and her husband Alfred. Eric was born in Austria on October 23rd, 1923 (as he liked to say "23-23"). When Eric was 7, his family immigrated to Canada. He was a skilled Tool & Die Maker and co-founded F-B Tool & Die in 1945. He was president until his retirement in 1990. He was extremely proud of the talented people that work there and their evolution into FBT Inc. Eric loved to golf, curl and enjoyed 30 years as a member of the St. Catharines Golf Club. In 2011 Eric was the inaugural resident of Pioneer Elder Care in St. Catharines. The family would like to thank the owners and staff of Pioneer for over 3 years of excellent and personable care. Friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Fri. Apr. 24th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Eric's favourite charity, The Hospital for Sick Children, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
