Obituary of Maria Celetti

CELETTI, Maria After a long and courageous battle, Maria passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of 57 years to Orazio. Much loved mother of Gaetana (Pat) Felice and Gerardo (Denise). Cherished Nonna of Julia. Dear sister of Pasqualina (the late Francesco) Popoli and Antonietta (Gaetano) Di Pietro and sister-in-law of the late Francesco (the late Filomena) Celetti, Antonio (Caterina) Celetti, Maria (Giovanni) Celetti, Angelina (Vincenzo) Salerno, Pasqualina (Rocco) Di Pietro and Assunta (Nicola) Petriello. Predeceased by her parents Francesco and Concetta DiSanto. Maria will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Maria immigrated from Guardia Lombardi to Canada in 1965, where she and her husband established their home in St. Catharines, building a prosperous life for their family. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Giesbrecht, Colleen Berdin and the Oncology staff at the Walker Family Cancer Centre, as well as CCAC, especially Nora, and all of the hospital staff for all their love and support during Maria's long battle with cancer. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Sunday, March 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine St., St. Catharines on Monday, March 23 at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Ovarian Cancer Canada or the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Mom, we'll miss your delicious Sunday dinners, your laughter and we'll remember you always.
