Obituary of Edward Ford

FORD, George Edward (Ed) - Passed away on Friday, February 6th, 2015 at Heidehof Home for the Aged at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Eleanor Margaret for 63 years. Cherished father of Michael (Mary) of St. Catharines, Margaret (Peter) Coughlin of Kingston, Fred of Victoria, B.C., Loretto (Jim) Woods of St. Catharines,Mary (Mark) Simmonds of Fenwick, Denis (Silvana) of Niagara Falls, Kevin (Ann) of Delta B.C. and Dan (Maureen) of St. Catharines. Special grandpa of Kevin & Sara Ford, Kathleen (John), Danielle (Grant) and Brendan Coughlin, Paul and Colleen Woods, Jannette (Greg Chambers), Rebecca (Nathan Sherwood), Jason (Teresa), Patrick (Jessica), Christopher, Katie (Shane) Simmonds, Patricia, Kristina and Julia Ford, Kieran and Kiana Ford, Ellen and Jack Ford. Great grandpa of Nicholas, Jacob, Madeline, Joshua, Hunter, Mark and Addison. Loving brother of Jackie (the late Bernard) Mathews, Dan Ford, Sr. Loretto Ford (Mildred), Nora (the late Rudy) Corsini, Michael (Karen) Ford, all of Hamilton, Patrick (Marge) Ford of Kingston, and Maureen (Albert) Bochsler of Ancaster. Predeceased by his brother John Ford and sisters Mary Catherine (the late Bernard) Gallagher, Loretto (the late Gerald) Beninger, Helen(the late Jack) Barry, Colleen (Robert) Dean of Hamilton, sisters Rosalie Ford and Marcielle Berry and his brother in law John and sister in law Mary Lahey. He is also survived by his sister in law Anne (the late David) Loomis of Texas. Mr. Ford was a member of St. Julia's Church, Council of 1394 Knights of Columbus, Monsignor Morris Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and the Royal Canadian Legion, Thorold Branch. He was retired from the Lincoln County Roman Catholic School Board. A sincere thank you to all the staff at Heidehof for all their care and compassion. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday from 7-9p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place on Wednesday at 7:30p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Julia Church on Thursday, February 12th at 11a.m. Burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to Heidehof Home for the Aged would be appreciated by the family.
