Obituary of Glenn Van Horne

VAN HORNE, R. Glenn At the St. Catharines General Hospital on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the age of 85. Born January 26, 1930 in Chatham, Ontario. Loving husband and soulmate of Nita, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Susan and James Towne and Sally and Jamie Greves. Cherished grandfather of Andrew, Alexandra, Sarah and Christie. Predeceased by his parents Mary Elizabeth and Earle Lester and his brother Donne, sisters Leona (Blake), Marilyn and Marlene (Bill), sister-in-law Marlene and brothers-in-law Bev, George, Bill, Bob and Bob. Survived by brothers Ray (Marie) and Allan, brother-in-law Johnny, sisters-in-law Bonnie, Pat, Judy (John), Janice and Fran and many nieces and nephews. Glenn retired from General Motors after 28 years. He enjoyed many hours in his garden, watching any kind of sports, chilling in the backyard with the Colbeys and doting on his grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital, especially the nursing staff for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Glenn's life will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. The family will receive friends prior to the service between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. Donations to the St. Catharines General Hospital would be appreciated. "See you in a bit, lovey."
