Obituary of Helen Woodhouse

WOODHOUSE, Helen (nee Horeczy) January 20, 1927 - January, 30, 2015 With the same grace and dignity with which she lived her life, Helen passed peacefully on to the next. Born in Lemberg, Saskatchewan, Helen moved to St. Catharines in 1950. Here she met and married Derwyn (1932-2011). They were married for over 60 years. Although Helen had many jobs, including a long association with Loblaws, her principle joy and priority was her family: her children Mark, Anne, Grant (Irene), Susan (Jan) and Lorne; her grandchildren Laura (Justin) Boles, Kevin (Christina), Rae and Kahlan and her great-grandchildren Tessa and Brendan. She never stopped being a mom! She is predeceased by parents Annie and Nicholas Horeczy, by siblings Walter, Anthony, Mary and Francis Horeczy, sister-in-law Bernice Horeczy and brother-in-law Mike Kennedy. She leaves behind brothers Frank (Dora), Joe, Ed (Eileen) as well as sisters Jean Kennedy, Victoria (Ernie) Trupish and sister-in-law Marjorie Horeczy. Lovingly remembered by the Woodhouse side of the family, particularly sisters-in-law Ruth and Winn as well as numerous nieces and nephews on both sides. A large part of her life was St. Columba Anglican Church, where she was an active member of the ACW. Her presence will be sorely missed. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff on 3B at the St. Catharines General Hospital for making Helen's passing as peaceful as possible.In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thursday, February 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at St. Columba Anglican Church, 7 Columba Dr., St. Catharines, on Friday, February 6th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Columba Church.
