Eleanor, my heart & love goes out to you & your family. I first "knew" John as a kid; watching him at parades, hearing him on the radio; he was everywhere. Then some time later he joined the tennis club where I worked, playing regularly with the guys, always wonderfully warm & friendly. He knew everyone's name,.... And then came the move to long-term care on the unit where I was posted as a recreationist. What a privilege to engage with him there! Loved his smile & when that smile became rarer, the recognition in his eyes. It was always a joy for me to have him near when playing piano. I remember you singing along one time, Eleanor - it was Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof. I saw your faithfulness & dedication, the time you spent with him, trips out to the garden or down to the tuck shop.
May God's peace be on you at this time.
Pearl

A true class act was John.
The Mayor of the Morning, and the voice of many many great causes in the Garden City, especially his incredible contribution to all the early, and real successes of the Folk Arts Festival!
The Coors Lite was cold and mama Feta's soup was hot, as we spent many, many afternoons at Joe Feta's back in the day.
Everyone in our old crew, especially John and Eleanor, Sylvia and the Duke and Mayor Joe and Annie to name a few couldn't wait for Folk Arts Season Festivities to begin, as John worked just as hard as anyone to promote all the Ethnic Open Houses and of course thousands on Parade day would migrate to the Garden City Arena and Rex Stimers Arena to hear him on the mic as he introduced all the ethnic dancing groups to the stage. My family's deepest condolences to the Larocque Family.
Heaven is an even better place now, for the angels just received their new Mayor of the Morning, and will now be able to have their "Coffee on Larocque"! RIP our Dear Friend.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of John. He truly was the man of the morning. I remember so many mornings hearing him wish me a happy birthday he made my day. He always had smile on his face and a warm greeting to whoever he met. To your family I am deeply sorry for your loss he made a difference in this community and he truly made you feel that he was a friend. Whenever I heard the name John Larocque I automatically thought of Tim Denis those two were such a team back in the day on Queenston Street. Please know you will be missed and you were often thought about would be nice to hear your voice one more day on the radio just to bring back that old familiar feeling of a man we all once had a great deal of respect for..... rest in peace you dear man

Our deepest sympathy to the family. John will always be fondly remembered by us for his camping skills with the Boy Scouts. Upon returning from the Haliburton Camp, his face said it all !! Our memories will be of him enjoying the mosquito flavoured hamburgers.
May God Bless you all, and keep you in His care during this time.

Dear Eleanor @ Family. Deepest Sympathy to you and family, I remember the good times we had to-gether in hockey when Christopher played Goalie in hockey and we were all proud parents cheering our children on and John was certainly one of them. Those were the good old day's and sadly time moves on, my heart goes out to you because what John went through to meet his maker was not easy for him and you and family. Bob @ Roberta Dick

I had the pleasure of taking care of John over the last few years, my thoughts and prayers are with the family during this most difficult time. May you now take comfort in knowing an angel is looking over you
It's the little things, the small, everyday occurrences that you'll remember. The laughs, the stories, the smiles. And even though it seems like you can never recover from your loss, it is these very memories that will help push the pain away and bring back the smiles
Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow
