Obituary of Giuseppe Clemente Perrone

PERRONE Giuseppe We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Giuseppe Clemente Perrone in his 99th year, on Tuesday, January 6th, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his wife Gilda (nee Boccia) (2012), to whom he was married for 69 years, and his daughter Anna (2008). Devoted father of Elio (Verna), Dante (Judy), Frank. Cherished grandfather of Joseph (Joanne), Elian, Mary Kathryn (Robert), Dante Jr., Isabella, Francesca and Aiva. Loving great-grandfather of Jacob, Joshua, Devon and Allegra. He was a much loved uncle to many members of the Boccia and DiCecca families in Canada and the U.S.. Papa was born in Gaeta, Latina, Italy and served in the Italian Navy. He met his loving wife in Rende, Calabria. They married in 1943 and came to Canada with the family in 1962. He worked at Port Weller Drydocks for many years. Giuseppe was the oldest long-standing member of Club Roma. He treasured his family, friends and Water Street neighbours. He enjoyed gardening and making his own wine. Everyone who knew him, loved him. Our deepest respect and heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bryan Leibfried, Dr. Tony Wong and the caring staff at Linhaven Home for the Aged. We were truly blessed to have Papa in our lives and he will be in our hearts forever. Giuseppe's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Saturday, January 10th from 7-9pm and Sunday, January 11th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, 3 Lyman Street on Monday, January 12th at 10 am. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Sunday at 3pm. Entombment following the service in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Catechist Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Thorold would be appreciated by the family.
