Obituary of Joyce Edith Osmond
OSMOND, Joyce Edith – Beloved wife of the late George, cherished mother of Phillip (Kerry) Osmond and Lynn (Christopher Multhauf) Osmond passed away on January 3, 2015. Joyce was born in Stafford, England in 1925 and worked in the British defense industry supporting the war effort. In 1949, Joyce sailed to North America on the Queen Mary settling with her parents in St. Catharines, Ontario. Joyce met her future husband George at a Calling All Britons Dance in Hamilton. They married in 1951 and raised their family in her lifelong home on Rodman Street. Joyce was a role model for those who knew her, in activities that ranged from working out for years with a dedicated group of women, many years her junior, to mentoring her neighbors Claire and Yvonne. She proudly lived independently at home until her passing this week.Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 99 Ontario Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, January 8th at 11am. Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Donations can be made online at www.diabetes.ca would be appreciated by the family.
