Obituary of Semen Gamrat

GAMRAT, Semen (Sam) – Passed away peacefully at Henley House on December 24, 2014 at the age of 89. Loving husband to Kataryna. Beloved father of Sylvia (Casey Kojima), Helen (Glenn Scott) and Mary (Roman Prokaziuk). Loving Dido to Adam, Lucas, William and Katie. Sam was born in Wolanyzna, Ukraine. In 1960, he immigrated to Montreal with his wife and three young daughters. After retiring from the Bank of Montreal, Sam and his wife moved to Niagara Falls in 1991 to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren.The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Henley House for the kindness, warmth and care that they provided to Sam in his years as a resident. A special thank you and debt of gratitude to our dear friend Greg Conhiser for the love and caring that he gave to our Tato/Dido. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, December 28th from 2-5 p.m. Panachyda will take place in the funeral home on Sunday at 4 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 14 Rolls Avenue on Monday, December 29th at 10 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow in St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church.
