When I started sculling in high school Jack helped me out with coaching and rigging. I did not realize at that time that I was being coached by one of the best. Thank you for all of your help and guidance. You will be missed.

I spent a week in St Catharines when I was just starting out in competitive rowing in the early eighties. Jack kindly allowed me to stay at his place and in his quiet and encouraging way inspired me to train harder and go faster.
I'll always remember Jack's distinctive handwriting and that unmistakable "ring"in his voice. One of a kind. My condolences to Nancy and all of Jack's family.

Nancy and family,
Over the past many years we have been on Henley Island and at regattas to watch our son row. On many of those occasions we have watched in admiration as both Jack and yourself were always there, giving of your knowledge and time to the athletes. The success of these athletes is a tribute to the many years of selfless dedication of you and Jack. A great loss to you, your family and to the sport of rowing.

Whenever I was on Henley Island I felt welcome at the Ridley picnic table, due in large part to the generosity Jack extended to all.
Jack, I miss you already. Thank you for all you have done for our community.

To Nancy and family,
So sorry to hear about the news of Jacks passing.
Although our 3 kids did not have the honour of being coached by Jack, he was a constant respected figure at the course and his example as a coach at Ridley College together with yourself, was always admired. The boathouse will not be the same.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

Jack was a man of great character. He leaves a legacy of a spirit of volunteerism for us all to aspire to. A true giving of self with no expectation of accolades or even notice for oneself. A tribute to humanity.

Nancy, Gige and I will miss Jack just as will the rowing community. I know he made a huge difference there, and he made a huge difference for us also. We looked forward to your visits so much every year, especially after the Head of the Charles. He was such a quiet role model. We will never be able to walk down to the basement again, or hang the double canoe, without thinking of Jack. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and his family.

Dear Nancy,
Please accept my sincere condolences and sympathy for your loss, and, for the loss to the rowing community as a whole. Jack was a giant in the sport, His contribution to the development of many of Canada's finest rowers is unmatched. Jack was always willing to help with advice, coaching, equipment or rigging a boat. I will remember him as a great coach and a kind and sincere man who loved the sport, and, who was willing to help a sincere athlete achieve their goals.
Jack was one of a kind and he will be missed.

Please accept our sincerest condolences on behalf of myself, the Ontario RCA Umpires and the Board and members of the Argonaut Rowing Club who knew, respected and loved Jack. It is a terrible loss and it will be hard to walk past the Ridley Grad picnic table at Henley or CSSRA and not see his face. Our thoughts are with you at this very difficult time.
All the very best, Judy
