Obituary of Letizia Sforza

SFORZA, Letizia (nee Oddi) Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Linhaven Home for the Aged, a month before her 94th birthday. Letizia has been reunited with her beloved husband Ascenzo. Loving mother of Victoria, Anna (Giovanni) Ferrelli and Albert (Anna). Cherished Nonna of Ivana and Sandra (Rob) Hoath and proud great grandmother of Alyssa, Josh, Sarah and Andrew. Dear sister of Anna (Raffaele) Leone and Maria (Pietro) Ferrelli. Letizia will be missed by many nieces and nephews, especially by Anna Rita and Rosella. Predeceased by her parents Vincenzo and Margherita, by her brother Salvatore, by her sister Elizabeth and also by many other members of her extended family. Letizia immigrated to Canada from Pettorano Sul Gizio, Italy in 1954. Ascenzo and Letizia settled in St. Catharines in 1956 and in their home worked hard and made a comfortable life for their family. Letizia was a woman of faith and was a dedicated parishioner of St. Alfred's Roman Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and neighbours. A special thank you to the staff at Linhaven for their wonderful care and to the staff at CCAC and its associated agencies for their support. Letizia's family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Alfred's Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine St., on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 600 Spring Gardens Rd., Burlington. As an expression of sympathy, donations given to the T. Roy Adams Regional Centre for Dementia Care would be appreciated by Letizia's family.
