Obituary of John Wellington Bushell

Bushell, John W. Peacefully at home on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, aged 73 years. Beloved husband of Alexis (Kehoe) for 44 years. Father of Todd (Toronto) and Adrienne (Rob) Berry. Very special Grandpa (Ga Ga) to Riley. Brother of Keith (Kincardine) and Joy (John) Ackert (Orillia). Uncle to Ryan, Jason and Brenan. Predeceased by his parents, John Henry and Emily (Collins) Bushell, of Kincardine, ON. John was a teacher in elementary schools in Bruce Township, Holyrood and Kitchener. He then came to St. Catharines to teach at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School and then at St. Catharines Collegiate for 26 years. After retiring, he worked as a Tour Guide in Niagara Falls meeting and guiding many travellers from across the U.S. and Canada. He enjoyed singing and was a member of the Niagara Regional Police Male Chorus and for a time with the St. Paul St. United Church Choir. John was very creative and enjoyed woodworking, making projects in his garage. Some of his happiest moments of recent years were spent with his grandson, Riley. John enjoyed travelling and always had a map available to show locations around the world. Special thanks go to Dr. C. Buetow, Dr. D. Heritz, Dr. M. Levesque and Dot at the Walker Family Cancer Centre, Sharlene from St. Elizabeth's, Angela and Cris at 2A Telemetry at the St. Catharines site of the Niagara Health System and Stacey at CCAC. Visitation will be held at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Monday, November 24th from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service to be held there on Tuesday, November 25th at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Prostate Cancer Canada or the Walker Family Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
