We were fortunate to have spent time with Tom and his lovely family. Although we try to express our sadness as well as our condolence and prayers for the family, words can only do so much. While reading the condolences I paid particular attention to those of the students that created a picture of Tom we can alI relate to..in addition to being a great teacher /coach the students said was funny, kind, caring and he had that smile that wouldn't go away...you just enjoyed being in his company.
If we could all take a lesson from the teacher/coach and model some of his qualities he would continue to have a positive impact on those he knew.

Still can't believe Tom isn't here with us anymore. Mr. McMahon was by far my favourite teacher I've ever had and was an awesome person to be around. Such a laid back guy but so caring at the same time. He helped me a ton throughout my time at Simcoe, and made going to his classes enjoyable. I'll miss talking about sports with him, he knew everything! My condolences to the family; I'm very sorry for your loss.

I remember having Mr.Mcmahon for 3 classes and he was honestly one of the most caring teachers in the school. He always talked about his kids in class, and about his son, and how good he was doing in baseball. I remember him telling the class he called his one son "wild thing". Because he was so crazy on the baseball field. Sorry for your loss. Mr.Mcmahon was a great guy.

Being a former student of Governor Simcoe, this breaks my heart to see a teacher I saw in the hallways everyday with a smiling face is now gone... I used to see him dropping his children off at school when I would take my sisters back. I always thought it was so funny how I would see him outside of school. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr.McMahon's family... Rest in peace. xo

It makes me extremely sad to realize that one of my favourite teachers and people at Simcoe is no longer here with us. I never had Mr. McMahon as a teacher but I will always remember how in grade 12, I was always allowed to enter his class, be with my friends and talk about sports or anything for that matter with him. The Blue Jays trip organized by him annually was consistently the thing that helped me push through a semester, just in anticipation to go on his trip. He always acknowledged me in the halls, making me feel apart of the Redcoat family and for that, I am extremely grateful. I wish to offer my sincerest condolences to his family and friends, and wish them all the best in this very difficult time. Mr. McMahon, you will always be apart of Governor Simcoe, you will always be apart of OUR HOUSE.

I did not know him well enough to call him a friend, but as a student of Governor Simcoe Secondary School I can guarantee that Tom was undoubtedly an incredible teacher. Not only did he teach well, he also coached well. I am sorry for the McMahon family's loss, and I wish them the best of luck in the future, and smile. I know that is what Tom would want you to do in his absence. On behalf of the school body at Simcoe, thank you for making us smile, educating us, and being the great person you were. You have truly left an impact and there's no ether to remedy that. He will always be Mr. McMahon to us, and to me.

Tom was a good dad, husband, uncle, cousin, and friend. I enjoyed playing hockey with him each week. He made the post-game celebrations interesting and fun. He always had a good story and was one of the last to leave. He will be missed by all his hockey teammates. I just started to coach basketball with him and was looking forward to spending more time with him this winter in the gym. He was a good athlete and really great coach. He was patient and kind with the kids on the team. Tom was a good man and a good friend.
