Obituary of Ruth Josephine Gillard

GILLARD, Ruth Josephine (nee Kwolek)- With her family at her side, my wife Ruth sadly passed away on Thursday, August 21st, 2014 at the age of 58. Ruth put up a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her husband Doug, sister Suzanne, brother Mark and his wife Margaret. Ruth will also be missed by my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. She was a great lover of nature- birds, wild flowers, trees and especially the squirrels she fed everyday. Ruth and I loved to hike and completed the Bruce Trail in 2005. We started the trail again and made it to almost the halfway point before she got sick. Ruth, I will carry your hiking stick to the finish! The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Monday, August 25th from 7-9p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 26th at St. Denis Church at 11a.m. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
