ASSELS, Florence Mary (nee Bond) - On Friday, June 20th 2014, Florence went home to be with The Lord. Florence was born on September 19th, 1917 in Douglastown, Quebec. Beloved wife of the late Theophile (1978). Loving mother of Phyllis and Mike Kelly of St. Catharines, Dianne Slack of St. Catharines and the late Rick William Assels (1981). Cherished grandma of Shawn (Michelle), Todd, Kevin (Marylee) and David (Alannah). Cherished great grandma of Brittany (Steve), Emily, Julia, Olivia, Luke and Jake. Great great grandma of Bela. Sister of Hubert (Anna) Bond of Douglastown. Loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Florence is predeceased by her 5 siblings. Florence is predeceased by her parents Allen and Ethel Bond. She was a member of St. Denis Church and a long time member of the Catholic Women's League. Florence will be sadly missed by her friends at Fairview Senior's Apartments, where she spent many hours playing cards and bingo and losing her pennies. Mom was a loving and caring mother, completely devoted to her family. "We will miss you Mom, you passed on your legacy in so many ways".The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, June 24th from 2-4p.m & 7-9p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place on Tuesday at 7:30p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Denis Church, 230 Lake Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday June 25th at 11a.m. Rite of committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to St. Denis Church would be appreciated by the family.
