Obituary of Charles John Stopka

STOPKA, Charles John It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles on Monday, June 16th, 2014 at his residence. Loving and devoted husband for 25 years to the late Ella (nee Mueller-King; 2012). Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary Stopka and brother Joe. Charles is survived by cousin Violet Tuchto, step-son Michael Antonelli. Good friend of Joe and Cassie Dubovec. A longtime friend of Mary Neill and Don and Lana Caskenette. Charles will be remembered with love and affection by Margot Matthee of Mannheim, Germany, Nancy Haworth and her children Susan (John) Pruyn, Tom (Karen) Kretz, Jim (Linda) Kretz, Paul (Darlene) Kretz, Linda (Swede) Burak, Don Kretz, Mary Ann (Terry) Wright, Jane (R. George) Lindsay and Gordon (Tracey) Kretz. Charles will also be remembered and missed by many friends and outstanding neighbours Gary and Wanda Ketler. Charles was born in Drietoma, Czechoslovakia on July 19, 1926. Charles lived his life as a hard worker, exceptional hockey player, farmer, restaurateur, and a tool maintenance person with General Motors for 30 years. Charles will be remembered as a well-dressed gentleman with a pleasant smile and a charismatic spark about him. In accordance with Charles' wishes, cremation has taken place. To remember Charles, family and friends are invited to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Thursday, June 26th, 2014 for a visitation from 10 - 11:30 a.m. A Memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In memory of Charles, donations may be made to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.
