Obituary of Nancy Lee Newhouse (nee Edwards)

Newhouse, Nancy (nee Edwards) - On Tuesday May 20, 2014 at the St. Catharines General Hospital Nancy passed away peacefully with courage and dignity with her family by her side after a 16 month battle with cancer in her 65th year. Beloved wife and best friend of Donald for 32 years. Much loved sister of Pauline and Walt Armstrong of Cayuga, Donna and Frank Cleaver of Caledonia, Jo-Anne and Roy Reichheld of Hagersville and John and Debbie Edwards of Midland. Loving step-mother to the late Grant (2008), Greg and Elaine of Niagara Falls and Gary and Dominique of Calgary. Cherished Grandma of Jordan, Kevin, Jillian, Kelsey and Kiefer and Great Grandma to Jade. Also remembered by her brother-in-law Bill and the late Janet Gaines. Beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Devoted daughter of the late Bruce and Mary Edwards. Nancy was a Recreational Programmer for the city of St. Catharines for many years and retired in 1995. She was an active member of St. George's Homer Anglican Church and a long time volunteer at Upper Canada Lodge. Nancy enjoyed quilting, which she has given to her family members with love. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Levesque, and Dr. Linda Lee, the nursing staff of 3B Oncology St. Catharines General Hospital, the CCAC nurses and Dr. Valerie Bayley for their compassionate care. Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home 585 Carlton Street on Friday between 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday at 11am at St. George's Homer Anglican Church, 163 Queenston Road, Niagara-on-the-Lake with cremation to follow. Memorial donations may be made to Rankin Cancer Run in Nancy's honour.
