Obituary of Valerio Crivicich

Crivicich, Valerio - It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of a wonderful Father and Nonno on Tuesday, April 15th, 2014 at the age of 84 at the St. Catharines General Hospital. Predeceased by his loving wife of almost 40 years Norma (nee Rabak) in 1992. Beloved father of Emil and wife Loredana and Adelia and husband Mario. Cherished Nonno of Marc and Fabiola, Jennifer and Robert, Stephen and Kirsty. Valerio will also be sadly missed by his long time friend and companion Barbara Barber. He is survived by his younger brother Sandro and many brothers and sisters-in law and extended family in New York, Australia and Croatia. Predeceased by his parents Antonio and Nina (nee Matkovic) and brothers; Antonio, Ernesto, Mario, Berto, Carlo and sister Erminija Skuljevic. Valerio was a very talented brick mason. He created many beautiful one of a kind fireplaces. In his retirement he enjoyed playing bocce, traveling, raising rabbits, making wine and gardening. He was especially proud of his greenhouse lettuce, which he could grow in the dead of winter. A special thank you to the staff at St. Catharines Place for all their care and compassion in the three years since it became his home. We would also like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the St. Catharines General Hospital - Niagara Health System for their excellent care of Valerio during his illness. Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines, Ontario on Monday between 2-4 and 7-9pm. Vigil Prayers will be said in the funeral home at 7:30pm. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 11:30am with entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in honour of Valerio.
