Obituary of Nellie Gates

GATES, Nellie Peacefully surrounded by her family, Nellie passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 in her 94th year. Nellie was predeceased by her first husband Garnet (1944) and by her second husband Myron (1984). Loving mother of Sheila Barrow (Dennis), Doug (Hennessy), Jacqueline (Wayne) Metcalf, Shirley Patterson, Laura (Ivar) Ermanson, Lynn (Haig) Basmajian and Margaret (Gary) Sartor. Nellie was the proud Grandma of 19 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Nellie was also predeceased by her sons in law Bob and Kenneth, by her granddaughter Carrie and by her 11 siblings. Nellie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for her kindness, her sense of humour and her sweet smile. A very special thank you to the compassionate staff of Hospice Niagara and Dr. Kerley, for all of their care and support. In accordance with Nellie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside inurnment will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Niagara.
