Obituary of Marjorie Kerley
KERLEY, Marjorie "Marj"
Died peacefully at her residence at St. Catharines Place on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the age of 92. Marj was predeceased by her husband Vern in 1989 and her good friend Bill Deatcher. Loving mother of Brian and his wife Beth. Cherished Grandma of Katherine (Josh Brazeau) and William (Carly Braden). Marj is survived by her dear sister Evelyn and by many nieces and nephews in England, as well as her great-grand-dogs Freddie and Taco. Marj was very proud of her service in the Women's Land Army during WWII. During that time she met Vern, who was serving in the Royal Air Force. They married in 1948 and moved to Canada and settled in St. Catharines in 1951. In her later years, Marj was an active member of the Dunlop Drive Seniors' Centre and the Russell Ave. Seniors' Centre where she enjoyed line dancing. Marj enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, gardening and Cadbury's chocolate. A special thank you to the staff of St. Catharines Place, Allison (her PSW), her care team from CCAC Niagara and Dr. Valerie Bayley, her family physician, for their kindness and care. Marj's family will receive family and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Church of the Transfiguration, 320 Glenridge Ave., on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. If desired, Marj's family would appreciate donations to Hospice Niagara.
