Obituary of Bernie Jones

JONES, Bernie It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bernie Jones, aka Nip, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of 60 years to Rose Marie. Much loved father of Catherine (Bradley), Colleen (Rick), Casey (Dave), Larry (Sandy), Rick (Sue), the late Andy (Mary Jane), Chris (Paul), Bern (Tracey), Gibb (Tina) and Brian. Papa will also be sadly missed by his 20 grandchildren. Bernie was a Purchasing Manager at General Motors for 40 years. He was very involved in community work, including Out of the Cold, St. Vincent de Paul and the Bishop's Council. The great drivers in dad's life were his faith, his family, and Mom. He leaves a legacy of a tremendous sense of humour, great jokes, a curiosity of all subject matter, and garnered friendships throughout his life. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Friday, March 28th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Mass celebrating Bernie's life will be held at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine St., on Saturday, March 29th at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Community Living St. Catharines would be appreciated by the family.
