Obituary of Alfred George Kordos

KORDOS, Alfred Peacefully at Hospice Niagara, Alfred George Kordos passed away at the age of 84 on Sunday, February 9th, 2014, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend Marie of 59 years. He was a beloved father, and will be deeply missed by his son Al (Kathy) and daughter Carolyn (Terry Jarrell) and his five grandchildren of whom he was so proud. He was the loving Papa to Julie, Jenny, Joey, Katie and Kasey. Alfred is also survived by his brother John. Predeceased by his beloved first born, Kathy (1990), his parents John and Anna, his brother Joseph and sister Anna. Alfred retired from General Motors after 35 years of service. He had a passion and love for his cottage on Lake Temagami, his peace on earth. He looked forward to spending the summer there every year along with his family. He called it 'My Happiness.' A special heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff, PSWs and volunteers at Hospice Niagara who showed him tender loving care and compassion during his illness. Special thanks to Dr. Arvinte and Dr. Kerley. Also a special thank you to his buddy Perry who made him smile during some of the hardest times along his journey. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, February 12th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will take place on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street, on Thursday, February 13th at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations to Hospice Niagara would be appreciated by the family.
