Obituary of Dolores Mary Ann Bastings

BASTINGS, Dolores Mary Ann (nee Cyr) Passed away peacefully, at the age of 82 on Tuesday evening, January 28th at the St. Catharines General Hospital with her daughters by her side. Dolores survived lung and breast cancer only to lose her ongoing battle with COPD. Dolores was born on September 18, 1931 in St. Catharines to the late Arthur Gordon and Yvette (Blais) Cyr. She was predeceased by her siblings, Joe, Ted and Lois Cyr and brother-in-law Mohan Manocha. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Donald, children Debbie Elliott-Kelm(George), Dana Greves (Tim) and Daniel Bastings. Dolores was extremely proud of her three grandchildren Kyle and Deven Greves and Amanda Elliott. Family meant the world to her. She will be sadly missed by her sisters in law Elaine, Marg, Jeanette and Judy, her brother in law Raymond, her close friend Helen and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in St. Catharines and worked as a secretary at GM before starting her family. After raising her children, Dolores returned to work as a sales clerk for Sears Pen Centre until her retirement 25 years later. Don and Do and their Jack Russell, Riley moved in May from the family home that they built in 1957 to the Royal Henley Retirement Community. As close family are out of the country travelling, cremation will take place now with a celebration of Dolores’ life to follow next month. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Friday, February 28th from 2-4pm and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, March 1st at 11:30 a.m. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
