Obituary of Filomena Biagi
BIAGI, Filomena (n©e Piergentili) - passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the St.Catharines General Hospital on Friday, August 12th, 2011, shortly after celebrating her 83rd birthday. Beloved wife of the late Primo (2000) and mother of the late infant Frank (1956). Devoted mother to Lou and his wife Maria and cherished nonna of Daniela, Elissa and Roberto. Dearest sister of Pacifico Piergentili and his wife Maria of Thorold, and Clara Bianconi and her husband Giulio of Rome, Italy. Special sister-in-law to Eugenio and Giulia Biagi of St. Catharines, and to Maria (and the late Primo) Tesei of Sarnano, Italy. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, Italy and the United States. Predeceased by her parents Federico and Elena (Carducci) Piergentili and her brother Francesco Piergentili of Italy.
Filomena was born in Sarnano, Macerata, Italy on August 7th, 1928. She immigrated to Canada in 1953 to begin her new life with her beloved Primo. She was an extremely hard worker spending many years at Boese Foods, Canadian Canners and the Holiday Inn. She was a devoted wife, mother, nonna and friend and was passionate about caring for her loved ones. She was a strong woman who never complained no matter the circumstance. Her vivacious personality and sense of humour always brought a smile to the faces of those around her. She saw each moment as an opportunity to joke around and have a laugh. She enjoyed countless visits with friends and relatives, especially her cherished neighbours on Meadowbrook Crescent. She was a wonderful cook and her unforgettable Sponge Cake will be missed by many. She was a devoted parishioner of Saint Alfred's Church, St. Catharines. Her positive outlook on life was uplifting to all those around her and her advice to have "Coraggio!" will forever remain in our hearts.
