Taras and family,
I heard of your great loss of your father this week. He was such a fixture in the neighbourhood I remember growing up in - it will never be the same without him (I do realize it has already changed greatly in reality, but it's still the same cluster of familiar names and faces to me.)
Your dad epitomized family values and dedication to home and family life. The pride used almost burst from his face when he watched you play. And he seemed to thrive on hard work - come home from a shift at GM, sweat through a session of lawn cutting, garden tending and home maintenance, and then look around for more to do. And always with the towel around his neck - dripping wet and with a certain delicate fragrance...
I know that he knew real hardship early in his life, and that he overcame a great deal to build a new life for your family. People of our generation can hardly imagine the change your dad had to adapt to in his lifetime. Your great challenge now will be in imaging life without him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow.
