Obituary of Giovanni "John" D'Ilario

D'ILARIO, Giovanni "John "- Surrounded by his family at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Wednesday, March 21st,2007, at the age of 76. Beloved husband for 53 years to Clara (nee DiFilippo.) Loving father of Michael (Judy), Serge (Teresa) and Rob (Mary.) Proud Grandpa and Nonno to Stephanie and Mark; Danielle, Victoria, Alexandra and Jonathon; Daniel and Jamie. Survived by his sister Vittoria (Umberto); Brothers in law, Giorgio (Vera), Julio (Gennie) and Mino; Sisters in law, Lina, Maria, Anna and Rita. Predeceased by his brother Romano. John was a retired employee of Sears, a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, a 46-year member of Club Roma and a friend to all who met him. He was the consummate handy man, always willing to help others with their projects or repairs. John will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and his many friends, especially his nieces and nephews, both in Canada and Italy. John's family will receive family and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, March 23rd from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 316 Queenston Street, on Saturday, March 24th at 10a.m. Entombment to follow Victoria Lawn Cemetery on Queenston St. in St Catharines.Vigil prayers will take place at the funeral home on Friday at 8pm . Many thanks to Doctors Giesbrecht and Kerley, and to the Oncology and Palliative Care nurses at the General Hospital. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of John would be appreciated by the family.
