It is with great sadness that dad and I bid Zio farewell. We are going to miss his quick smile, his bear hugs and strong cheek pinches. Zio had a gentle sweet spirit and always, always did his best. To me he was the carnival uncle, always getting tickets to the circus or whatever special event was going on---he was there and ready to take us even if we got lost---he always tried. For me it has been a privilege to have shared his life, he was always concerned for how I was doing---always asking me "how's it going Main" you OK? I suppose knowing and understanding the trials I've faced in the past. He will remain imprinted on my heart forever---even though he was 81, in my eyes and heart he was timeless....a very special zio...love for your heart....joy for your spirit....peace for your soul....
Love Maina

Cara Famiglia,
Words cannot express the sadness in my heart when I heard of my 'Beautful Joe's' illness and passing. Joe always called me Carolina and when I asked him why he told me. He said that I reminded him of a little girl he knew in Italy. I didn't mind being called by her name because as I child I thought, if she touched him that deeply, then I too must hold a special place in his heart. I cherish Joe deeply in my heart and I will always remember that Joe loved me - even though I was not his child - he loved all children equally - for he understood that they are the light and the way and to keep those child like qualities as an adult is important. That is why he shall be received with open arms into heaven - for it is written in the bible that way.
I am so sorry that I was not able to come to Canada in time to tell him how much he meant to me - for I love him dearly. I have been ill and unable to drive that great a distance. My heart feels lighter now letting you know - just how much Joe meant to me and just how much I love him and am grateful for the blessings he brought to me.
I will always remember him as an angel who came into my life and showered me with his love, his lightness, and his magnificent smile.
I wish you peace in knowing that Beautiful Joe, has taken his rightful place - with the angels.
