Obituary of S. Gordon Hastings

Hastings, S. Gordon - in his 88th year (March 22, 1926 - January 11, 2014) Passed away with his family by his side, loving father to David (Suzy), Dennis (Judy), Sheila Kennedy (Michael), and Donald (Sheila). Also survived by his wife Georgetta and the Greenhalgh family. Dad had 8 grandchildren, and 8 great- grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by Rod and Ann North, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Mary Vida (Hallett) in 1999, grandson Matthew in 2000, brothers Edward, Douglas, Graham, Robert, and his sister Mabel. Gordon was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 24 (2nd 10th Dragoons) serving in various capacities over the years. He was a lifetime member of the St. Catharines Old Boys Lacrosse Association, served on the Grantham Volunteer Fire Department, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and the Out of the Cold Programs. He worked as a draftsman for over 35 years at Ferranti Packard. The family would like to thank the third floor nursing staff (NHS) ,and to Dr. Joseph Rosoloski for being his friend as well as his doctor. Our dad was a gentleman and a very honourable, and caring person, and we will all miss him greatly. Friends may visit at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, with Vigil Prayers being held at 3 pm on Tuesday. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, 3 Lyman Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday, January 15th, 2014 at 10:30 am. Cremation to follow.
