Obituary of Joseph Llewellyn Lu-Affatt
LU-AFFATT, Joseph "Joe"
On Tuesday, January 7, 2014, Joseph (Joe) Lu-Affatt, age 95, dedicated husband of Coree, loving father of Diane Lu, Sandra (Guy) Giguère and Kim/Lexi (Bill) Robinson, passed away peacefully at Extendicare St. Catharines. He is survived by cherished sister Helena Kurban of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Jennifer, Michel and Genevieve; nephews and nieces. Born in Trinidad, Joe ("Lu") was a founding staff member and chief x-ray technician at Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines. An avid gardener, woodworker, he was a builder of awesome backyard skating rinks and other childhood play worlds. A health and fitness enthusiast, his silly, playful sense of humour and easygoing nature leaves a void in our hearts. He adored ballroom dancing and music, both singing with great gusto and playing harmonica, piano or guitar. In the city, he was an active participant in the Chinese Cultural Club, supporting the city's Multicultural Festival. Later in life, he revealed an amazing gift for oil painting and creative arts. Celebration of Joe's life to be held in early summer. Our profound gratitude to Dr. Luce and Extendicare's kind, compassionate staff for their tender care and concern. Donations in memoriam to Canadian Diabetes Association.
