Obituary of Annemarie Vandenhirz
VANDENHIRZ, Annemarie Edith
Passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 5, 2014 at Heidehof Home. Born in Berlin - Schoenberg, Germany on february 21, 1917 as Annemarie Kirchner. She worked as a stenotypist/typist in Landshut Bavaria prior to her emigration to Canada with her husband, Richard. They arrived in Halifax on June 29, 1953. After Richard's death in Brampton, Ontario, she moved to the Heidehof apartments in 1981 to be a part of a German community. In February of 2010 she moved to the Long Term Care section to receive more care. She was an active member of the Alpenroesl dance group of Club Heidelberg, often leading them in by carrying their banner and also being the centre of the "Maitanz". She was also a very generous benefactor to the Dance Group at Heidehof, but wanted to keep her generosity confidencial. She was a true Berliner, spirited, outspoken (sometimes too much), truthful and loved to have fun. You would see and hear her selling pretzels and sausages at the garden City arena at the annual Flok Arts Festiva. In 2002 she met widower, Willi Seelemeyer, and their romance blossomed and grew. She found happiness and love again in her final 12 years of life with him. She also acquired a new family, Marion & Karl,David, Tanya & Sydnie, Petra & Jason, Jason Jr. & Jeff, and Fred. She loved to attend family gatherings and relished the companionship. Also fondly remembered by very good friends, Erika, and Donna. may you rest in peace, Anne4marie. Ein Prosit und Lebewohl!
A heartfelt thank you to the caring staff of the Long Term Care division as well as the Supportive Housing during her 33 years at Heidehof.
Charitable donations in Annemarie's memory may be madeto Heidehof Home for the Ageed, a place she called " Home"
