Dear Nestor,
My heart and deepest condolences go to you, your children and grandchildren. In time of sorrow, there are little words that can truly express what the family is experiencing at the loss of a dear one. I hope the following words bring a tiny measure of some comfort and peace to you as Mary's husband, to your children, grandchildren and the Schudlo family:
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a 1,000 winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sun on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled light
I am the soft star that shines at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there; I did not die.
Anon, 20th century
VICHNAYA PAMIAT!

Dear Nestor and the whole Siolkowsky and Schudlo family;
I wanted to be with you tomorrow to pay my last respect to Mary but cannot shake this flu bug.... so know that I am with you in spirit and love for an amazing woman that I had the honour and joy of knowing. Mary was always the one to step into a room and brighten the mood immediately- The first time we met as teenagers I remember her greeting me with warm words, a hug and a smile and I knew she would be a lifelong friend. To Nestor and Marys' greatly loved children I would like to say that I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Your mother was a very caring , respectful and gracious woman whose influence was far reaching. May you rest in eternal peace Mary. Never to be forgotten. And may her loved ones know that she was loved by many. Vichnaya Pamiat!!

Nestor,
I'm so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. Mary was an amazing teacher and the children at Lincoln Centennial School benefitted greatly from the years she spent there. She cared deeply about those children and was truly a devoted mother to her own children. I remember the many stories she shared with me about her sons and Ivanka.
God will greet her in heaven with open arms.

Dear Nestor
I have never forgotten Mary from my secretarial days at Lincoln Centennial. After I transferred schools, she would swim into my mind over the years as I observed teachers teaching and kids reacting, and I always thought of her as the "measure" of what a teacher should be - kind, loving, compassionate and dedicated. I was unaware that she was ill, but once again, my thoughts returned to her on New Year's Day, with some disquiet - and now I know why. I'm sending you a big hug, along with my sincere condolences on your loss.
Love
Helen

My very deepest sympathy to Mary's family for the loss of such a beautiful human being. I feel so honoured to have taught with Mary at Lincoln Centennial where I always thought she was the SUPER TEACHER. She just seemed to know everything and was completely dedicated to her students. She also acted as a mother to them, especially to the ones who did not have very much. She made sure they had snacks and were dressed warmly in the winter. She will be deeply missed and always remembered for her strength and courage. May you rest in peace, Mary.

Mrs Siolkowsky (as she will always be to me) was my grade four teacher. Although the lessons of long division and multiplication were not my favourite, she was an amazing teacher. She inspired creativity, confidence and a love for learning. I have many fond memories of that class, she had high expectations, but was so encouraging and she had an infectious smile when she knew you'd done your very best.
