Obituary of Daniel L. McNeil

McNeil, Daniel L. "Dan" April 21, 1918- December 20, 2013 After a lengthy stay at Extendicare, beloved husband and best friend of the late Evelyn (2009) for 68 years. Missed by his much loved daughter Nancy (Tim) Linkson. Grandfather of Kim Johnson (Bruce) and Cory Linkson. Great Grandfather of Kassie, Brent, Angelica (Ryan Webb), Jordan and great -great grandfather of Chloe and Colton. Special Uncle of Tom Rastin (Helen), Terry Roy, Loretta George (Glen), Lorraine (Greg) Murphy and Pat Hurst. Loved brother of Loretta Kendrich of Winnipeg and Neil of London, Ontario. God father to many, especially Carol (Edward) Walzak of Hamilton. Retired from General Motor's of Canada as a Maintenance Supervisor. Following retirement, Dan taught Maintenance and Small Engine repairs at Niagara College, Welland Vale Campus. He was a member of St. Alfred's parish and served as an usher for numerous years. Dan was also a member of numerous Railroad Clubs. Trains were his passion. The last train has now left the station. Have a great trip Dan! A special thank you to all of his caregivers at Extendicare who went out of their way to make his life so comfortable. In accordance with Daniel's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Friday, December 27th from 2-4 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine St., on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation.
