I was just thinking of Mr. Toth, so I searched on the internet and discovered this page. I have fond memories of Mr. Toth. He introduced me to the beauty of music through the violin. I studied in his class in 1979-1981. I am sad to learn of his death. He contributed greatly to my experience at SWC. With best wishes to his family... Sherri.

While home for Christmas, my mother told me of Mr. Toth's recent passing. My apologies for these late condolences, I only just found out, or I would have attended ceremonies.
I was a student of Mr. Toth's from 1985-1989 at SWC. In my second year at SWC he asked me to join his Hungarian orchestra. It was an honour and a privilege to play with him. At one point, I won a trophy at the Kiwanis music festival and had the trophy in my house for a year that also held his name. He also once allowed me to play his prized violin (a Duefelprueger (?)), a wonderfully special moment I will never forget. What a gorgeous instrument.
I am now a music teacher myself at Etobicoke School of the Arts, and Mr. Toth played a part in this career path I have chosen. His personal attention, respect for me as a fellow musician-not just a student, and shared love for music are traits I strive to carry forward in my teaching practice.
My sincere condolences, he was a wonderful influence on many lives.

Dear Rick, Carolyn & Family
Sincere condolences from both of us.
I have many memories of sharing a desk with John in the St. Catharines Civic Orchestra. We were fellow music teachers with Lincoln County Board of Education and both happily retired at the same time. We both have fond memories of dinners at the Hungarian Tavern in Niagara Falls with John and Edith.
Due to illness we could not attend the celebration of John's life.

Rick, my heart breaks for you in the loss of your Dad. My deepest sympathies to the entire family.
Mr. Toth was an outstanding music teacher, orchestra leader and mentor. He shared his love of music with those of us who were fortunate enough to be his students. He will forever be in my heart.

To the Toth family, I wish to extend to you all, my deepest sympathies. I knew Mr.Toth from my time in the music programme at Sir Winston Churchill. Yes, he was a wonderful music teacher. But, more important, he was someone who really reached out to his students and obviously truly cared about their development. He made us better people. My thanks go out to Mr.Toth.

My deepest sympathies to the family on the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather, and condolences to all who knew him well.
I was a student at Sir Winston for five years - much of that time spent in the music room! I learned a lot from Mr. Toth; he was generous with his musical knowledge and his time, for which I have always been grateful. I have many fond memories.
Rest in peace, Mr. Toth, and thank you!

Carolyn, Rick and Family ... I was saddened to hear of John's passing! How many, many years we had together at Sir Winston! Musicals, orchestra ... and more ..so many young people benefited by interacting with John and his love of music.
John was a great story-teller as well and some of his tales are with me today.
Irony of Ironies ...this morning, right after I got the message of his passing ... I heard Pachabel's Canon on the radio ... one of John's favourites in orchestra. Now how did he arrange that coincident?
