Obituary of Vilnis Bertholds

BERTHOLDS, Vilnis Quietly in his sleep, Vilnis passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the St. Catharines General Hospital, at the age of 74. Beloved husband of 53 years to Velta. Loving father of Maira Kramer (nee Bertholds) and Normunds and his wife Morena. Proud "Papa" of Paige, Dylan and Austin. Vilnis came to Canada in 1959 at the young age of 20. Shortly after he met his wife Velta and were married in 1960. Vilnis was fairly well known in the Marine Industry. He will be remembered as an expert in his field and as a hard working and devoted family man. Vilnis' favourite pastime was fishing with his friends and his son Normunds. He will be greatly missed by his family. A special thank you to Dr. Casselman, Dr. Hughes, Dr. Tom Nolan and Dr. Preston Zuliani for being supportive and caring of Vilnis. Vilnis' family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Vilnis' life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
