I was so sad to hear that Mrs. Cheevers passed away. She was a fine lady,a good soul, and she will be missed by many. We have been friends for many years, and I loved her dearly. I sure am going to miss her, as I have never met anyone else quite like Bette. She was such a happy go lucky "gal", positive, caring, honest and just a joy to be around. She had so many interests from Antiques to Sports with Millinery in between, and we so easily chatted about many things. I had many lunches and dinners on Geneva street, and sometimes Pat would join us. Good coffee and always a plate of sweets, and great conversation. She was so proud of her family, and although I have only met Pat and Gerry's Bette she has talked about all of you in great lengths. She always said "what a great bunch you all are". I moved to London 17 years ago and we always kept in touch. I am so thankful that I came to visit her at the Shaver 2 weeks ago. As usual she had a grin on her face and was in good spirits, which was amazing under the circumstances. That was Bette and I told her " you are a tough old bird" and she laughed. I will miss your mom very much and the world won't be half as nice of a place without her. My sincere sympathies to all of you. Take good care. Lisa VanSickle

I will remember Bette as an absolute pistol....feisty....independent....an incredibly strong woman...we should all be that comfortable in our own skin....lover of literature....MUCH funnier and wittier than Gerry will ever be...I celebrate her peace, her reunion with loved ones and the legacy she left behind...she was SO proud of every one of you...a life well lived by a woman well loved.

I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Cheevers passing. Many Monday nights were held at the Cheevers residence on Geneva St. after a great night of volleyball with her late son Pat who we miss dearly. Mrs. Cheevers was always a pleasure to see and chat with. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, along with Bill and Tena Horne and Gord and Pat Brown who I know carried a special place in Mrs. Cheevers heart.
