Obituary of Barbara Hope Bouchard

Bouchard, Barbara Hope (nee O'Donoghue) - Peacefully on Saturday August 9, 2013 at Chateau Gardens Nursing Home at the age of 79. Born and raised in St. Catharines Aunt Hope attended St. Catharine's Elementary School and St. Joseph's High School for girls. She later went on to become a Registered Nurse through St. Michael's College in Toronto. Hope had a long nursing career in hospitals, public health and industrial health which included General Motors of Canada, the Victorian Order of Nurses and the Lachine General Hospital in Montreal where she lived. She loved fashion, was an avid knitter and weaver and long time member of the weaving guild. Predeceased by her husband Rene Bouchard and her parents Joseph and Katherine O'Donoghue. Also predeceased by her sisters Marie Devaney, Eileen O’Donoghue, Patricia Mahoney, brothers Rev John O’Donoghue CSB, George O’Donoghue, Joseph O’Donoghue; niece Patricia Devaney, and nephew Timothy O’Donoghue. Hope was a very convivial person always welcoming her relatives and friends into her home. She was a loving and indulgent Aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Special thanks to nieces Diane O’Donoghue, Phyllis Plut and Patricia O’Donoghue and the staff of Chateau Gardens for the attentive care they provided to her during her extended stay at Chateau Gardens Home in NOTL. Family will receive friends at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria on Wednesday August 21, 2013 from 10-10:30am with Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow the mass at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the George Darte Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society in Hope's honour.
