Obituary of Pietro Burgio

Burgio, Pietro - It is with heavy hearts that our family announces that our beloved Pietro passed away peacefully on Saturday July 6, 2013 at the St. Catharines General Hospital in his 89th year. Born in Realmonte, Sicily, Italy and served in World War II. Devoted husband of Teresa for 57 years. Loving father of Sam, Carmella (Joe) D'Intino, Vincy Barone (Jeff Gratton) and Josie (Steve) Tritchew. Adoring Nonno of 7 grandchildren. Cherished brother of Paulo (Guiseppina), the late Pasquale (Vincenza), Maria (Joe) Bonsignore, Rosario (Antonietta) of Sicily, Guiseppe (the late Leonarda), Gerlando (Maria) of Sicily, Angelo (Rosa) and Tom (Rose). Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins in Italy and Canada. Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Tuesday between 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11am with Entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rankin Cancer Run in Pietro's honour.
