Bielak, Kazimierz - Passed away on Sunday, June 30th, 2013 at West Park Health Centre at the age of 92. Loving husband of Mary for over 54 years and much cherished father of Catharine and her husband Daniel Noebert of Ottawa and Irene Cameron and her husband Marvin. Much loved step-grandfather of Shaun and Brock Cameron. Kazimierz is predeceased by his brother John and his sisters Raphalina and Katherine. Kazimierz was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and the Polish Legion Branch #418. Born in Eastern Poland on March 8th, 1921, he along with his family was one of hundreds of thousands of Poles forcibly moved to Charkov, Russia in 1936. In 1941, he was interred in a labour camp in Siberia. Released from the camp in 1942, he joined the Polish Division, fighting under British command in major campaigns in the Middle East and at the battle of Monte Cassino in Italy during World War II. He was awarded the order of the cross of Monte Cassino. After the war, he spent some time in England before immigrating to Canada in 1953. Kazimierz worked as an auto body technician for over thirty years and took much pride in his work. His gentle manner and kindheartedness will be sorely missed. Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Rosary will be said in the funeral home on Thursday from 7-7:30pm with visitation to continue after. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate Street with burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Building Fund of Our Lady of Perpetual help Church, 5 Oblate Street, St. Catharines.
