Obituary of Helmut Muehlenbeck

MUEHLENBECK, Helmut It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helmut in his 88th year at N-O-T-L Hospital on Wednesday, May 29th, 2013. Devoted husband of 58 years to Eva. Loving father to Frank (Mary) and Doris (Doug) Priestap. Cherished Opa to Andrew (Sara) and Amanda Muehlenbeck, Christa (Jim), Sarah (Keith) and Hannah Priestap. Proud Tic Tok Opa to Mikayla, Ava and Faith. Also survived by his brothers, sister, nephews and nieces in Germany. Helmut worked as a breadman when he first came to St. Catharines. Then shortly after he achieved his Canadian Electrical license and began his career with Wiens Electric until he retired in 1990. Helmut was an active honorary member of Club Heidelberg and Grace Lutheran Church where he volunteered a lot of his time. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Lucey, Dr. Berti and the wonderful staff at N-O-T-L Hospital for their care and compassion. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Friday, May 31st from 4-9 p.m. A funeral service for Helmut will take place on Saturday, June 1st at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 213 Linwell Road, with visitation being held at the church from 10-11 a.m. Interment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer Society.
