Peacefully, surrounded by her family at the St. Catharines General Hospital on November 2, 2001, at the age of 97. Predeceased by her beloved husband Rosario in 1969. Dearly loved mother of Carlo (Connie) Maltese, Vita (and the late Nicola) Fasulo, Lina (Andrea) Accardo, the late Pietro (Nene) Maltese. Predeceased by her daughter Francesca, five brothers and three sisters.
Loving nonna of Rosa (Emilio) Ciocca, Tony (Heather) Fasulo, Louise (John) Bravetti, Rosalie (Joe) Ippolito, Ross (Antonella) Maltese, Leo (Diane) Maltese, Carlo (Antoinette) Maltese, Rosalie (Nello) Rescigno, Angela (Richard) Rosenboom. Survived by 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Born Rosalia Fontana in Salaparuta (Trapani) on November 25, 1903, she immigrated to Canada in 1967. Faith in the Lord, prayer, and family were the foundations upon which she lived her full life. Rosalia was a member of St. Alfred's Church.
Mrs. Maltese is resting at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton St. until Monday at 9am. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church at 9:30am. Rite of Committal will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting hours Saturday 7-9pm and Sunday 2-4 & 6:30-9. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 7pm.
