Obituary of Lodewyk (Lou) Appel

Appel Lodewyk (Lou) On Sunday October 7, 2001, at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, in his 77th year. Beloved husband of the late Jannie Appel (1996). Loving father of Louise Young, Ron and Bonnie Appel, Pam and Joe Karpjuk , Lou and Annie Appel, Keith and Ingrid Fox . Sweet Chocolate Opa of Graham, Lindsay, Nicole, Brent, Sydney and Hannah. Survived by his brother Willem Hendrick (Hinke) and his sister Wilhelmina Appel-Stramrood both of the Netherlands. Special friend to Ian Young and Teri Appel. Lou was employed as a Professional Electrical Engineer before focusing his attention to teaching at Ryerson PolyTechnical Institute of Toronto and then at Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology from 1968 until his retirement in 1991. Lou will always be remembered as a kind considerate, gentle man. Those who knew him will always remember him. Lou is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St.where a service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday at 11:00am. Cremation to follow. Visiting hours are Tuesday 7-9pm and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Memorial remembrances to Hotel Dieu Oncology Clinic would be appreciated by the family.
