Obituary of Joseph Veillette
VEILLETTE JOSEPH Peacefully, on Friday August 24, 2001, at the Shaver Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Joe is survived by his wife June, Elaine (Norman) Duclos, Betty Lamure, step children Diann (Ron) Gaston, Darline (Pete) Gelok, Maryann Eckert and Jim (Julia) Piper. He also leaves behind 24 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Lillian (1961), Anita (1990) and son Russ.
Joe served overseas in WW11 with Duffin Highland. He was an active member of the West St. Catharines, Merritton, Thorold and St. Mary's Primrose Seniors Clubs. Joe was employed with the St. Lawrence Seaway for 21 years, retiring in 1973. He was known as 'Cigar Joe' to his may friends and colleagues.
Mr. Veillette is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. where a service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am Cremation to follow. Visiting hours are Monday 7-9 and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Memorial remembrances to the Parkinsons Foundation or the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family.
